In class this week, we were taught that we should help everyone that doesn’t have the benefits that we have, so our teacher wanted us to brainstorm ways we could help other people in the world who need it. Most of us that live in the U.S are privileged to live in the U.S because so far, we have been the greatest country in many ways including military and wealth. Some people say we could use these to help other countries that need it such as countries in Africa or Central America. We as individuals should do this, not our government. Government has tried and failed in places like Somalia. Our Constitution says that our government is not allowed to do so, but our government has already defied our 2nd Amendment, who will stop it if they decide to break this law too? The Bible also tells us the same thing, that the government cannot give to other countries, but we as individuals can. There is no problem if we as individual people want to give money to the poor who need it in Africa. The movie “Black Hawk Down” is a good example of what could happen if governments try to help other countries. When individuals give money, they make sure that the money that they give gets to the right person or people. If a government gives money, they aren’t concerned about where the money goes. If it gets stolen, all the government has to do is tax their citizens or just print more money. The criminals would be more interested in stealing large amounts like the government’s rather than the private citizen’s small amount. This is also why individual funding to the people in need is a better idea rather than government funding.
